Miranda House, Kensington – extra care

Miranda House is a new, twenty-unit extra care home for Octavia Support providing up-to-date, wheelchair-friendly accommodation for the elderly and disabled. One significant challenge, amongst many others, was to design a three-storey building on a site previously occupied by a 1960s, two-storey building while avoiding interference with sunlight, daylight and privacy enjoyed by neighbouring residents.

The communal facilities are separated and interlinked with small patio gardens enabling long views within a relatively confined space; they also serve as safe walking routes for those suffering from dementia.
